Large Capacity, small details
At Living Wood, we specialize in oversize and difficult to make components. If you need a part that isn't available, chances are we can make it. We are happy to supply the wood or use yours.
Lathe Work - Our 1911 Oliver lathe (pictured at left) is 99 years old and counting. It has a capacity of 24" X 108". We have created mantle legs, oversize stair parts, architectural columns, and table bases. Straight or tapered, solid or hollow, fluted or smooth, we can build to your design.
Re-sawing - We can re-saw materials up to 21" thick by 144" long. We saw veneers, re-size timbers, cut trim out of reclaimed materials.
Re-Milling - We can joint materials up to 15" wide which allows us to re-mill old and twisted lumber into square and straight stock for mantles, bar tops, posts, and beams
Sanding - Our 50" wide sander can handle tables, bar tops, and other large flat surfaces.
Larger capacity = fewer design constraints and more possibilities

The nice thing about having something custom made is having the ability to choose the materials.
We have access to a wide variety of new and reclaimed species of wood from around the world
You can select your own materials based on cost, color, figure, suitability, and age.
We are also happy to re-mill your wood.
